Former owners demand free occupancy – is this for real?

I’m extremely frustrated by a four-month free occupancy demand from former owners in a bidding war, forcing us to incur high costs as we buy in an expensive area.

In my view, while such demands may seem unreasonable, it’s not entirely uncommon to see former owners trying to secure concessions in stressful bidding situations. I once encountered a similar scenario during a property transaction where unexpected claims significantly complicated negotiations. The key is to review the agreement meticulously and seek legal advice to determine if these demands hold any contractual ground. In many cases, a well-informed counteroffer or mediation process can balance the scales without incurring excessive costs. It’s essential to stand firm on protecting your long-term investment while navigating these challenging terms.
