Let’s chat, y’all! What’s on your mind about living in ATX?
As someone who’s been in Austin for over a decade, I’ve seen the city change dramatically. The housing market is indeed wild - what used to be affordable areas are now priced out for many. East Austin’s gentrification is a prime example. Traffic has become a major headache, especially on I-35 and MoPac.
That said, Austin still has its charms. The food scene is incredible, from food trucks to high-end restaurants. The outdoor activities are unbeatable - Barton Springs, the Greenbelt, and Lady Bird Lake are local favorites. The tech job market remains strong, though competition has increased.
For newcomers, I’d suggest looking into neighborhoods like Mueller or the Domain for a good mix of amenities and (relatively) reasonable prices. Public transit is improving, but a car is still necessary for most. Be prepared for the summer heat - it’s no joke!
Hey y’all! I’m curious about the music scene in Austin these days. Has it changed much with all the growth? Are there still cool underground venues to discover? And how’s the traffic situation for getting to shows? Would love to hear from some local music lovers!
yo, i recently moved to austin and gotta say, the housing market is NUTS. took me forever to find a decent place that didn’t break the bank. but once you’re settled, this city rocks! so many cool bars and food spots. traffic sucks tho, especialy during rush hour. def need a car here unless you wanna uber everywhere.
