Hey everyone,
I just heard that the Fairfax County Board is looking to raise some taxes. They want feedback from us about two things:
- A new tax on meals at restaurants
- A higher rate for real estate taxes
I’m not sure how I feel about this. Has anyone else heard about it? What do you think? Will it affect you if these go through?
I’m especially curious about the meals tax. Do you eat out often? How much do you think it might change your restaurant habits?
And for homeowners, are you worried about the potential increase in property taxes?
Let’s discuss this. It’s important we understand what’s happening in our county!
As a long-time Fairfax resident, I’ve seen tax proposals come and go. This one’s tricky. The meals tax could hit local restaurants hard, especially the smaller ones already struggling post-pandemic. As for property taxes, it’s a double-edged sword. Yes, we need funding for schools and infrastructure, but many homeowners are already feeling the pinch. I’d like to see a detailed breakdown of how the additional revenue would be used before supporting any increases. Have they considered other options for raising funds? It’s crucial we weigh the long-term impacts on our community carefully.
Ugh, more taxes? i eat out alot and this’ll hit me hard. property taxes r already insane here. maybe the county should cut spending instead of always askin for more $$$. anyone know when they’re decidin on this? we should speak up at the next meetin.
Interesting topic! I’m curious about how this might impact local businesses. Have any restaurant owners chimed in on the potential meals tax? It could be a tricky balance between raising revenue and keeping dining out affordable. What do you all think would be a fair percentage for the tax, if it happens?
