Was it truly possible to nab a 2.00% mortgage rate in 2020?

During the pandemic, many homeowners, including myself, refinanced around a 3% rate—some slightly more, some slightly less. Still, I frequently notice discussions about an immaculate 2% rate. I’m curious if anyone actually secured a 30-year fixed mortgage at exactly 2% with no buydown or additional adjustments. Has anyone locked in such a deal? Please share your personal experience or insights regarding this unusually low rate.

i never locked in a strict 2%, mine came off at 2.1% – kinda close but not exact. begs the question if the touted 2% ever really existed or was just a numbers game.
